Modern Artifacts: Dedié Adissem is a Togolese-American industrial designer born and raised in Marion, Ohio. He is a recent graduate of The Ohio State University, where he earned his BS in Industrial Design. He is passionate about harnessing design to shape a more sustainable and story-centered future.
Dedié’s design philosophy is centered around designing alongside people rather than simply for them, using thoughtful design solutions to empower their stories and experiences. At the heart of his work is a commitment to longevity, creating objects that not only endure physically but also carry meaning across time. Dedié believes well-crafted products will eventually evoke a sense of nostalgia and hold the potential to become heirlooms, preserving stories and memories for future generations.
Guided by principles of materiality, sustainability, and responsible design practices, his work reflects a dedication to leaving a positive and lasting imprint on both people and the environment. For Dedié, true innovation emerges when design responds authentically and intentionally to human needs while honoring the world we share and our stories.
