
The Honorable Frank D. Jackson, Former mayor of Prairie View, Texas was born and raised in Luling, Texas. He graduated from Luling High School in 1969 and entered Prairie View A&M College in the fall.
Jackson earned a four-year scholarship as a Naval Science student and graduated from Prairie View A&M University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography. He was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy serving on active duty for eight years and was promoted to the rank of Captain (Officer Grade 06) in the United States Naval Reserves in 1995.
Jackson was employed at Prairie View A&M University from 1982 - 2021 as Associate Counselor for Admissions and has served the University in various positions. He has also served on various athletic committees from 1987 - 1999 including the Athletic Council and served as the first Chairman of the Prairie View A&M University Sports Hall of Fame Executive Committee (1987).
Jackson has an impressive record as an enthusiastic supporter of the university athletic program, an author and active public community advocate and leader. He served on Prairie View, Texas' City Council for 12 years and served as Mayor for five terms, 2002- 2016. He is frequently requested for public speaking engagements throughout the nation pertaining to the history of Prairie View A&M University and Texas.
