My journey in graphic design began at Prairie View A&M University, where I pursued a degree in Digital Media Arts with a minor in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Throughout my college career, I sharpened my skills by taking on freelance projects and offering pro bono design work for various organizations. These early experiences laid a strong foundation and fueled my passion to pursue a career in graphic design after graduation.
After completing my studies, I moved to Atlanta, GA, where I began my professional career as a Production Artist with Oldcastle APG. Known for inspiring possibilities through enduring performance, Oldcastle APG’s family of brands creates complete exterior environments from stadiums to outdoor kitchens leading the industry in quality and design innovation. In this role, I collaborated with a dynamic team of designers, photographers, and videographers on a wide range of projects, including product catalogs, event flyers, product pages, and graphics for tradeshows and conferences.
After two years in Atlanta, I returned to Houston, Texas, to join the City of Houston as a full-time Graphic Designer for the Houston Public Library. Serving more than 40 neighborhood and regional libraries, I work with an amazing team to communicate the library’s resources, services, and events through impactful collateral ranging from banners and signage to brochures, promotional materials, and panel cards. In addition to promotional design, I contribute to brand consistency by updating our branding materials, including brand guidelines, welcome banners, and marketing templates. It’s an honor to be part of the continuous effort to elevate and promote the invaluable services the library offers to our community.
